Paul Hession broke the Irish 200m record at tonight's IAAF Golden League meeting in Oslo.

However, he just missed out on a podium position when finishing fourth in a competitive 200m race won by Johan Wissman of Sweden.

Wissman, last summer's European silver medallist, in a photo-finish clocked 20.32sec, the same achieved by Zimbabwean runner-up Brian Dzingai.

Irish 60m record holder Anna Boyle never got into her stride over 100m, finishing sixth with a time of 11.84sec. The race was won by Laverne Jones of the US Virgin Islands who clocked 11.32sec.

Boyle will be aiming to recapture better form for next weekend's European Cup First League 'A' fixture in Vaasa.
There she will have another head-to-head with Britain's Joice Maduaka who tonight was an impressive fourth in a season's best 11.41sec.

James Nolan, making his season's 1,500m debut, was ninth in 3min 45.57sec. Brimin Kipruto of Kenya won in 3min 36.27sec.
