Reigning European Indoor 400m champion David Gillick is free to travel to Moscow for next weekend's World Indoor Championships after having one of his final year exams rescheduled.
Gillick, who is studying Management and Logistics in DIT’s Faculty of Business, has had an exam moved to accomodate to trip to Russia.
The 22-year-old Dubliner, who was tentatively named in a ten-athlete Irish squad for the Worlds last week, returned home on Saturday from a two-week training stint in Florida, and has since confirmed his participation.
Gillick, who struck gold in Madrid just a year ago, will now take part in the 400m heats on Friday, with the final set for Sunday afternoon.
David McCarthy is Ireland's other entrant in the 400 - the Kildare man finished fifth at the 2003 World Indoors in Birmingham.
