Leevale athlete Derval O'Rourke has qualified through to tomorrow's 100 metres hurdles final at the World University Games in Izmir, Turkey.
The UCD student clocked 13.09 seconds to finish second to Russian winner Tatiana Pavliy (13.02) in her semi-final and ease through as the third fastest qualifier overall.
Estonia's Mirjam Liimask mustered 13.07 in the second semi. O'Rourke, fourth at the 2003 European Under-23s and a semi-finalist at last week's World Championships in Helsinki, earlier timed 13.27 in winning her heat.
Elsewhere at the Atatürk Stadium, another Leevale product Ailis McSweeney has been hitting the the heights in the 100m qualifiers.
The 22-year-old ran the third fastest time of the second round, 11.64 seconds, to win and qualify in comfort.
Ballymena & Antrim's Northern Ireland record holder Anna Boyle is also through. She finished second in her heat, clocking 11.69.
