O’Sullivan well beaten in Lausanne

Sonia O'Sullivan finished a well-beaten ninth in the 3000metres in the Grand Prix meeting in Lausanne tonight. The Olympic silver medallist, making her first track appearance of the season at the meeting, was nearly 19 seconds behind winner Yelena Zadorozhnaya.

The Russian set the best time of the year and a meeting record as she streaked ahead of a field to win in 8:35.60.

Prior to tonight's race, O'Sullivan had not raced on the track since last August. O'Sullivan plans to run the 1500m at Saturday's Cork City Sports.
