Paul McKee has narrowly missed out on a place in the 400 metres final after finishing fifth in his semi-final at the European Championships today. McKee started strongly and was well placed with 100 metres to go. He tired towards the finish however and was pushed back into fifth place with a time of 45 minutes 92 seconds.
Britain's Daniel Caines finished first with a time of 45.43secs while Germany's Ingo Schultz, silver medallist at last year's world championships in Edmonton, finished second.
