Radcliffe retains Cross Country title

Britain's Paula Radcliffe has retained her World Cross Country title at the IAAF World Cross Country championships in Leopardstown in Dublin. The world champion crossed the line in a time of 26 minutes and 55 seconds, ahead of American Dina Drossin and South African Colleen De Reuck.

Earlier, Kenyan Viola Kibiwot won the women's junior title. Kibiwot held off a strong challenge from Ethiopian Tirunesh Dibaba and becomes the first woman to retain the title.

The 18-year-old won the race in a time of 20 minutes and 13 seconds, with Dibaba just one second behind and another Kenyan, Vivian Cheruiyot, in third place in a time of 20:22. The first non-African to finish was Yugoslavia's Snezana Kostic in eighth, just ahead of Australia's Melissa Rollison.
