Shinkins through to Euro final

Ireland's Karen Shinkins is through to the final of the women's 400metres to crown an impressive day for the Irish team at the European Indoor Athletics Championships in Vienna. Shinkins won her heat in a time of 51.90 to book her place in the final, while earlier, Sarah Reilly and Ciara Sheehy both qualified for the semi-finals of the 200m.

Reilly came second in her heat in 23.72 seconds, while Sheehy was third in a much faster heat, her time of 23.34, a personal best, seeing her through as a fastest loser. In the high jump Deidre Ryan failed to advance after jumping 1.84m.
