The Athletic Association of Ireland have announced a 15 strong Irish team to compete at the European Indoor Championships in Vienna in March, including the fastest woman in the world this year over 400 metres, Karen Shinkins. The Newbridge born runner is currently training with the Speed Dynamics group in Atlanta, where she is joined by 60 metre hurdler Peter Coghlan and long jumper Ciaran McDonagh, who are also named in the squad.
Dubliners Coghlan and McDonagh are both in fine form lately, as is 1,500m runner James Nolan, who will be hoping to go one better than his silver medal in Ghent two years ago.
