Britain's Paula Radcliffe destroyed a top class field when she coasted to an easy victory in yesterday's 'World's Best 10k Race' in Puerto Rico. Radcliffe clocked 30 minutes 43 seconds to finish well clear of Kenya's Lornah Kiplagat (32:17) and South African Elana Meyer (33:00).
Afterwards, Radcliffe admitted she was happy with the win but disappointed not to have beaten Liz McColgan's 13-year-old world record time. "It isn't the money. Her (McColgan) records are so high quality and hard to beat I see it a major task trying to break them.
"I lost it between five and seven kilometres when out on my own. I saw a group of men in front of me and tried to run with them, but I couldn't catch them and had to carry on myself. I'm happy with it. The race showed I'm in good shape and better condition than I thought I would be. It was important to try and beat Liz's record but it was a tough one," said Radcliffe.
