Sheffield have pulled out of a bid to stage the 2005 World Athletics Championships. The decision has been taken after the International Amateur Athletics Federation Council yesterday rejected Britain's offer to relocate the event after plans to stage it in London collapsed. The Yorkshire city would likely have faced competition from European capitals Rome, Madrid and Berlin for the competition.
