Sonia O'Sullivan looks set to challenge for a medal at the World Cross-Country Championships in Ostend despite recovering from a bad cold which has troubled her for the past couple of days. O’Sullivan delayed her trip by 24 hours and arrived from London yesterday evening, confident that a five-day course of antibiotics has put the problem behind her.
O’Sullivan, who completed a unique long and short course double at the 1998 Championships in Marrakech, will challenge for the 4km short-course event tomorrow.
Seamus Power from Clare spearheads the Irish men’s challenge in the long-course event tomorrow. Power will be joined by training partner Peter Matthews alongside US based Keith Kelly and Vinnie Mulvey. Noel Berkley and Cathal Lombard make up the Irish team.
