Seamus Power beat a strong field to emerge victorious at the annual Rás na hÉireann in Dunleer this afternoon. The six-times Irish Inter-county champion held off a very spirited challenge from fellow Irishman Mark Carroll, to take the title by six seconds, in a time of 23. 33 secs. Kenya’s Cyrus Kataron finished third.
Earlier, Ann Keanan-Buckley was our best hope for home victory in the Women’s race, but the Laois woman could only manage second place behind South Africa's Colleen Dereuck. Kerry's Maureen Harrington was third.
