DISAPPOINTMENT FOR IRISH SIDES
When Shamrock Rovers and Shelbourne qualified for the league phase of this competition, it was a historic moment for Irish football.
Two teams progressing to the outright stage of a competition was a breakthrough but it hasn't yielded the desired results.
Shels have failed to score a goal, while the Hoops have struggled to deal with some difficult fixtures after a long campaign.
It's only seven months before they will be back in qualifying rounds, with tonight's matches offering some prize money and the chances to right a couple of wrongs over the last five rounds.
WHAT HAPPENED SO FAR?
There were contrasting starts to the group in terms of difficulty of matches.
Shamrock Rovers had their hardest games at the start, coming up short against the likes of Sparta Prague, Celje and Shakhtar Donetsk.
A draw in AEK Athens offered some hope. Last week's clash with Breidablik was must-win and while they took the lead, it wasn't enough.
Shels had the opposite. Drita and Shkendija offered big opportunities to take more points after a scoreless draw with Hacken, but they fell to unfortunate late losses.
From there it was an impossible job really for Shels against the likes of AZ Alkmaar (2-0) and Crystal Palace (3-0).
Tonight's game isn't much easier with Celje showing their class earlier in the competition.
HOOPS AT HOME
Tonight's opposition for Shamrock Rovers are a similar position.
Hamrun Spartans have struggled for points, securing one victory from five, which came against Gibraltar's Lincoln Red Imps.
This year they became the first Maltese side to reach a group stage, defeating Latvian outfit RFS 3-2 on aggregate.
They are out of season now, so both teams are ending their year tonight.
SHELS UP AGAINST IT
Franko Kovacevic scored a brace for Celje in the victory in Tallaght Stadium earlier in the year. The quality of the performance indicated the Slovenian side would have little trouble progressing their European season in 2027.
Victory over Legia Warsaw and AEK Athens leaves them in position secure a play-off spot, with a small chance of getting side the top eight.
In short, they'll want to win this clash and ensure they will march on in the competition.
Celje progressed to the last 16 last campaign with Fiorentina coming out on top in that tie by a tight margin, 4-3 on aggregate.
Albert Riera is the man in the dugout who at first was known as the former Liverpool player but is now becoming more familiar for his clashes with Stephen Bradley over the last two encounters.
WHAT THEY SAY
Stephen Bradley told RTÉ Sport: "One point so far is disappointing. There's no getting away from that and I think that shows the bar that we've set in terms of that we've moved the needle for everyone, for the league, for ourselves, that we're being criticised for not having more wins.
"I totally accept that and understand that when you move the needle and move the bar and raise expectations, that's what comes with it and we have to accept that.
"And like I said, we have one point, we're disappointed and for us that's that's not good enough. So we want to try to get three points on Thursday."
