The funeral has taken place in Thurles of former Tipperary hurling great Jimmy Doyle, who died last Monday, aged 76.
Doyle is regarded as one of the most skilled hurlers of all time: the Thurles Sarsfields man won six All-Ireland senior hurling medals in the period from 1958 to 1971, as well as nine Munster titles. He also captained Tipperary to All-Ireland victory in 1962 and 1965 and was an All-Ireland runner-up on three occasions.
He was the holder of seven National League medals and was also an eight-time Railway Cup winner with Munster.
At club level, Doyle won 10 Tipperary County Championship medals with Thurles Sarsfields.
In 1984 he was named on the Hurling Team of the Century to mark the centenary of the GAA; he was also named on the Hurling Team of the Millennium in 1999.
Former team mates as well as hurling greats from across the country gathered in the Church of St Joseph and St Brigid opposite Semple Stadium for his funeral mass this morning.
