Chloe Magee overcame Indonesia's Adrianti Firdasari 13-21 24-22 21-13 this morning in the first round of the Ladies Singles at the World Badminton Championships in London.
Magee, currently ranked 55 in the world, was facing an opponent 24 places above her in the rankings.
Having survived match points against in the second set, Magee came through strongly in the third set to set up a meeting with World number six Saina Nehwal of India in the second round.
Earlier this evening, Sam Magee and Tony Stephenson accounted for the Ukranian pair of Vitaly Konov and Dmytro Zavadsky.
The Irish pair trailed 12/8 in the opening set before recovering to win through 21/19.
They followed up with a comprehensive 21/15 win in the second set to advance to the second round where they will meet the highly rated Chinese pair of Chai & Guo who are ranked 11th.
