2159 That concludes coverage for this evening. A good night for Ireland and next month's double header should be very exciting. Thanks for reading, see you all again.

2157 A reminder that our Euro Extra programme begins in three minutes.

2152 Time it, 96 minutes and 27 seconds into the game, Scotland grab a winner. So harsh on Liechtenstein.

2151 Scotland have three minutes of added-time left to save their campaign.

2147 Kevin Doyle named Man of the Match.

2144 Liam Brady believes there are no easy games in international football. He's right, but they really should be winning by more than two goals.

2143 England completed a 3-1 victory thanks to a late Bent goal. Scotland have six minutes to rescue a win against Liechtenstein.

2140 I suppose it does set Ireland up nicely for the Russia game. It will be a completly different encounter and they will be full of confidence.

2138 'One of the worst teams I've seen play in Ireland.'

Ronnie Whelan's senitment on Andorra as the full-time whistle goes. Job done for Ireland, they go top of Group B.

2136 France go two up in Bosnia while the match in the Aviva is set to come to a dull end.

2135 There will be three minutes of added time.

2134 Stephen Kelly wastes a good chance to pick out Robbie Keane and Andy Keogh with the strikers in acres of space in the area. Kelly's cross has too much power on it.

2131 Good play by McGeady as he runs in on goal and lays it off to Keogh, but the Cardiff man is tackled before he can shoot. The attedance is 40,283.

2130 Italy go four up against the Faroes while France have just gone one up against Bosnia.

2129 Kilbane has the chance to get his second goal of the game but he heads over the bar. Shame.

2127 We've got seven minutes left, the Andorrans are so good at killing the game.

2126 Final change for Ireland as Keogh comes on for Kevin Doyle.

2125 Scotland have got one back, they have 25 minutes to save their blushes.

2123 Ireland putting pressure on as Kelly's cross goes to Lawrence but he drags his shot off-target. Then Doyle gets the better of his man and sends a stinging shot across goal that an Irish player fails to get a touch on. Come on lads, one more.

2122 Great turn by McGeady but his cross is cleared. Very much hit and miss from his tonight.

2120 Gibson shoots from the free and the 'keeper gathers with ease.

2120 Ireland win a free 40 yards from goal, this should be another chance for the Republic.

2118 John O'Shea is being withdrawn for Stephen Kelly.

2117 Not much happening at the minute, the game has gone quiet. There are still 17 minutes left, Ireland should be pressing for more goals.

2114 Adam Johnson doubles England's lead in Switzerland. 2-0 to Capello's men.

2113 There are 22 minutes left and there are goal here for Ireland if they keep the tempo up.

2111 Ridiculous call by the referee as Doyle is bundled to the ground just beside the penalty spot. He waves play-on must to the disbelief of Doyle and the rest of the Aviva Stadium.

2110 More time-wasting by Andorra, so frustrating for Ireland.

2110 Scotland 0-1 Liechtenstein.

2110 Once more?

2109 Scotland 0-1 Liechtenstein.

2109 Scotland 0-1 Liechtenstein.

2108 Lawrence wins a corner as his cross is headed away. He could have gone down after a poor tackle by the defender.

2106 Dunne gets booked for holding on to his man, he could regret that later in qualifying.

2104 Gibson does indeed come on for Whelan.

2103 Keane's effort from near the end line on the left of the area is saved the goalkeeper. He then crosses the ball back across the goal. With Josep Anton Gomez stranded, there is no Irish player to head the ball in.

2101 Whelan gestures he wants to stay on as Shay Given claims a cross by Andorra.

2100 With the game safe, Darron Gibson will come on for Glenn Whelan shortly.

2058 Magnificent goal by Ireland. A superb team move involving McGeady, Green and Doyle sees the Spartak Moscow midfielder slide a ball through to Robbie Keane who deftly chips it over the goalkeeper and into the net.

GOAL - IRELAND - ROBBIE KEANE

2056 'Why oh why have we two defensive midfielders on the pitch against Andorra?

Sorry but that's like bringing two eunechs to an orgy! Shocking.'

Glen, bored at the game...

2055 Scotland are level with Liechtenstein at half-time. That draws some horrific memories doesn't it?

2054 Poor, poor cross from Aidan McGeady and Glenn Whelan puts him into space on the left wing.

2053 No they didn't, because Macedonia drew level a minute later deep into stoppage time.

2052 Silva is the latest Andorran to require treatment and then miraculously recover. Armenia claimed a late winner in Macedonia by the way.

2051 Whelan goes down on the edge of the area but the referee plays on. I fancy Ireland to get a penalty at some stage as the Andorrans tire.

2050 Lima is punished again for jumping on Kevin Doyle. Good chance for Irealnd to whip a ball in from 45 yards.

2048 The teams are coming back on to the pitch. No changes for Ireland.

2038 Ireland didn't play well, with no fluency or conviction according to Eamon Dunphy.

2034 Half-time in the Aviva and that late Christian Martinez goal has ruined what was otherwise a very good first period for the Republic. At least Ireland will have to come out now in the second half looking for more goals. It may have changed Trap's decisions at half-time anyway.

2032 We're into two minutes of added time.

2031 That is disappointing. A long ball forward is headed down and Martinez shoots first time and scores. Superb shot from 20 yards with no chance for Shay Given.

GOAL - ANDORRA - MARTINEZ

2027 Out of nothing, Ireland double their lead. Kevin Doyle and Liam Lawrence combine to win the ball back for Ireland around 30 yards from goal. Doyle lines up to shoot, off-balance, and sends a soaring effort in to the top corner of the goal. Fantastic strike, Ireland are on the way to three points.

GOAL - IRELAND - KEVIN DOYLE

2026 Whelan is flagged offside as Ireland send in more long balls that do trouble Andorra. There have been a lot of stoppages in this game and it is disrupting the Irish game.

2023 Nine minutes remaining in the first period. Ireland will want a second goal before half-time. Andorra still doing a good job, with McGeady the main danger for the Republic. He produces another excellent piece of play to flick it to Kilbane. However the goalscorer is tackled and the ball goes out for a throw-in.

2020 Lima is booked for the most obvious handball you'll ever see just on the right hand side of the pitch. It should be a second yellow after what went on tow minutes earlier.

2018 Lima clatters into Doyle and once again the Andorran stays down and wastes time. Eventually he gets back to his feet, Ireland have a free just inside the Andorra half.

2017 Whelan delivers another poor pass but Ireland soon regain the ball in the Andorra half. McGeady once again is Ireland's spark as his ball eventually runs passed Doyle and Keane and comes to Liam Lawrence. The Stoke City man tries to chip it over the goalkeeper from seven yards but it hits the side-netting.

2015 Italy 2 (Daniele De Rossi 22) Faroe Islands 0

2014 The Aviva has gone a bit flat as eventually the ball is worked out for a goal-kick. Doyle is then penalised for a foul on Silva. Ireland need to do something to ignite their game in the final third, they just can't put any passes together at the moment.

2012 Andorra having a decent bit of possession but no sign of creating any sort of chance.

2010 Keane is flagged offside when positioned well on the left-side of the area. Poor decision as Keane is level with the defender on the replay. Andorra have done a good job in slowing the tempo of the game.

2007 Green clips an Andorran player accidently on the side of the fence. You'd see worse slaps on X-Factor. He is being stretchered off with a blanket to keep him warm. Time-wasting with 22 minutes gone.

2006 Whelan avoids sliding in for a tackle as Andorra keep the ball, I wonder if we would have gone in a bit harder if he wasn't on the yellow card!

2004 Gilardino puts Italy 1-0 up against Brian Kerr's Faroe Islands. Ireland are doing very well with McGeady's run threatening the Andorra goal again. Very positive from Ireland.

2003 Given is forced to push away a shot from distance. It goes out for a corner and Ireland clear.

2001 Hero. Kevin Kilbane puts Ireland in the lead with a towering header from a corner. Doyle was also in line to head it into the net. Exactly what Ireland needed.

GOAL - IRELAND - ZINEDINE KILBANE

2000 Kilbane's cross is almost headed in by Doyle but the goalkeeper just fists it away.

1958 The noise levels are increasing in the Aviva as the Irish fans gets accustomed to new surroundings. The wet pitch is somewhat hampering Ireland as they struggle to keep the ball.

1957 Wayne Rooney scores away from home again.

Switzerland 0-1 England.

1956 Decent start from Ireland as we approach the 10th minute. Ireland need to keep patient and eventually the chance will come. O'Shea and Keane looking lively.

1954 Good football from Ireland as Keane plays it to O'Shea on the right wing. The Man Utd man delivers a direct pass to Keane who tries to get away from two defender but his shot is blocked and the goalkeeper gathers.

1952 Andoraa break forward and should win a corner but the linesmen rules it an Irish goal-kick. Norway go into a surprise lead against Portugal while Sweden, three goals up against San Marino, have had Olaf Mellberg sent off.

1951 Whelan gives the ball away with the Andorran players keeping plenty of pressure on the Boys in Green.

1949 Andorra manage to clear it after a couple of nervous moment in defence. Richard Dunne is fancied to score tonight by one or two people in the RTÉ office but he couldn't win that one.

1947 Keane is fouled within 30 seconds of kick-off near the corner flag after a sharp turn that beat two Andorran players.

1946 It's level in Macedonia now, here comes kick-off in the Aviva.

1945 We'll be underway shortly but first there'll be a minute silence for John Sherlock, former secretary of the Roscommon FA.

1944 FYR Macedonia 0-1 Armenia is the latest from the other game in Group B.

1943 Paul in Michigan here. I think we'll win well tonight. 4-0. I have a good feeling about this campaign. Come on you boys in green.'

1940 Robbie Keane and the Andorran captain were going to say a few words before the game to deliver a message of fair play.

But the microphone wasn't working, so they didn't bother.

Insert criticism of FAI here.

1937 There are big pockets of empty seats in the Aviva as the teams go through the pre-match dignitaries.

1934 It is raining once again in the Aviva. The teams are in the tunnel with Robbie Keane set to lead out the Republic.

1932 No goals as of yet in the clash between Macedonia and Armenia. That was a 7pm kick-off. Liam Brady does not believe that Glenn Whelan is under threat for suspension when being one yellow card away from a ban. Brady's theory obviously stems from the quality of the opposition, but with the wet conditions you never know.

1928 'The team that I saw this morning had a spirit that was very, very bright'

Giovanni Trapattoni's sentiments yesterday when speaking to Tony O'Donoghue.

1926 'Help me here.... When was the last time Ireland ever had a "healthy half-time lead?. I just want a win tonight. Next month vs. Russia is now HUGE!'

Pete From New Jersey

1924 Read a report on the Irish U21 game here.

1920 According to the FAI, there have been 40,000 tickets sold for the game.

1916 It will be interesting to see what changes Trap makes if Ireland have a healthy half-time lead. The priority is to get Greg Cunningham game time, and as always, try to find an alternative to Robbie Keane and Kevin Doyle if needed.

1913 The Aviva is slowly filling up. Tonight might not provide the best atmosphere, we're all looking forward to the Russia game next month for that aspect. Ireland will go top of the group with a two goal win against Andorra.

1909 The last time Andorra didn't lose a game was 7 February 2007. Scoreline predictions tonight folks? I'm going for 3-0.

1905 Slovakia's manager Vladimir Weiss said after their shock win in Russia: 'I'm very pleased with the result as we were playing against one of Europe's best teams tonight.

'We made the very best choice of tactics as playing attacking style football against Russia could be fatal.

'I'm proud of my players, thay gave all they had for this win.'

1903 Coverage has started on RTÉ Two and RTÉ.ie

1857 Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott was the surprise inclusion in the England side for the Euro 2012 qualifier with Switzerland in Basle.

Lescott was not named among the substitutes for Friday's 4-0 win over Bulgaria, when Gary Cahill came off the bench to replace the injured Michael Dawson, but the centre-half was given the nod to make his first competitive start since a World Cup qualifier against Andorra 15 months ago.

Lescott's only other international appearance since then came in a friendly with Brazil in Doha last November.

It was the only change from the team which brushed aside Bulgaria thanks to Jermain Defoe's impressive hat-trick.

1850 No surprises from Trap, Ireland team as announced yesterday.

1845 Rep of Ireland: Given, O'Shea, St. Ledger, Dunne, Kilbane,
Lawrence, Whelan, Green, McGeady, Doyle, Keane. Subs: Westwood, Fahey, Kelly, Gibson, Cunningham, Keogh, Long.

Andorra: Josep Anton Gomez, Bernaus, Christian Martinez, Lima,
Pujol, Escura, Sebastia Gomez, Ayala, Vieira, Moreno, Silva.
Subs: Pol, Rubio, Sonejee, Jimenez, Andorra, Mejias, Lorenzo.

Referee: Leontios Trattou (Cyprus)

1800 I'll be back at 1830 for build-up to tonight's matches.

1756 Turkey have beaten Republic of Ireland in the U21 qualifier. Noel King has a lot of work to do after this embarrassing campaign for the Irish side. This was not the worst result as, missing several key players, it was a strong performance by Ireland.

1755 That is a big upset. It throws the group wide open and makes next month's games against the teams even more important for the Republic of Ireland.

Full-time - Russia 0-1 Slovakia

1752 Final minute of added time and Slovakia are hanging on.

1751 Slovakia still holding firm as their goalkeeper claims another poor Russian pass.

1749 Huge chance for Slovakia as they break two-on-one but they mess it up and Russia get it away. Bilyaletdinov then picks up the ball from outside the Slovakian but his pass for Arshavin has too much on it and it goes for a goal-kick. We're in stoppage time.

1747 Pavlyuchenko's snap shot sails high and wide of goal.

1745 A Bilyaletdinov free-kick from just outside the area is palmed away by Mucha in the Slovakian goal. He gets a bang in the nose in the aftermath but it's timewasting me thinks as he collapses to the floor. Five minutes remaining.

1742 Heartbreak for the Irish U21s as Turkey score an 84th minute opening goal. Great effort regardless by the Irish side.

1740 Bilyaletdinov is introduced by Advocaat. That is Russia's final change. It should be a frantic finish. Slovakia are happy with their one goal but they could still get a clinching score on the break.

1736 They just can't get a clear shot in on goal. It's Aniukov once again who crosses from the right but Slovakia somehow manage to clear. There are 12 minutes left.

1731 The noise levels rise whenever Arshavin gets the ball but so far the Slovaks have kept him quiet.

1727 Martin Skrtel blocks a goal-bound shot to keep Slovakia ahead. Roman Pavlyuchenko is coming on for Russia now as they go in search of a goal. Pobrebnyak will be withdrawn.

1725 This is so well poised as Slovakia continue to threaten on the break. Jendriskek's run looked to have put him in on goal, but Akinfeev just beat him to the ball.

1720 More pressure from Russia and another penalty appeal. Aniukov looked to have been held back by a Slovakian defender but the referee gestured for the Russian to get back to his feet.

1718 We've reached the hour mark in Turkey and still no goals. Very encouraging for the young Irish side.

1717 Jendriskek on for Kucka for Slovakia.

1715 The home fans are really finding their voice now as Russia come so close to drawing level. It's a melee in the area as the home side desperately try to get a shot in on goal. Eventually it falls to Arshavin who turns with his back to goal from eight yards and hooks the ball inches wide of the post. So close, it looks as if more goals are coming.

1711 Slovakia look quite dangerous on the counter-attack now as Russia try to open up the game. Dick Advocaat's side are committing more men forward now so it is getting stretched.

1709 Russia have a goal ruled out for offside as Zyryanov taps in Arshavin's cross. It was close but I looked the correct decision.

1708 John McDermott warns about the danger of Slovakia:

'We've real reason to be worried about Slovakia. On the back of their exploits at the World Cup, they are a much more confident team, and they like Ireland reckon they can win the group.

'They're a much better team than the one we picked up four points from the Euro 2008 qualifiers.

1707 Slovakia really do have the beating of Russia in this game. The Russian defence is quite shaky and Stoch is left with acres of space to take on his man, turn and shoot straight at Akinfeev. The goalkeeper pushes the ball out for a corner.

1706 Slovakia make the more positive start with jeers and whistles from the home crowd as the away side holf on to the ball.

1702 The players are coming back out on the field at the Lokomotiv Stadium in Moscow. This is a very important 45 minutes for Group B.

1651 Half-time in both matches, Slovakia hold a surprise lead in Russia while Ireland are doing quite well in Turkey at 0-0.

1646 Joey O'Sullivan responds to entry at 1633

Are you serious? Russia are favourites to win the group, so anyone taking points of them is great for Irelands cause, if we are to have hopes of winning the group, and avoid qualifiers, which recent history would suggest do not suit us.'

I see your point Joey but if we drop points to Russia it could leave us struggling to even make the play-off.

Maybe I should be more positive and take the "winning the group" mentality.

1645 Moments later Slovakia threaten as Holosko shot is kept out by Akinfeev.

1644 Pogrebniak's shot hits the side netting after good work by the home side in the Slovakian box. That's the best bit of play Russia have had since the goal.

1642 It is a bit scrappy now is Russia with little goal mouth action. Ireland are still holding firm at 0-0 in Turkey.

1637 That goal has proved a major boost for the Slovakian side. They're having much more of the ball and Russia look a bit shell-shocked.

1633 Moments before that Semshov hit the outside of the post with a stinging shot from 15 yards out. This probably wouldn't be the best result for Ireland, would it?

1629 It is massively against the run of play but Slovakia lead. Akinfeev mis-kicks a clearance and the ball falls to Miroslav Stoch who advances on goal and unleashes an unstoppable shot into the top corner of the net. They don't deserve it but Slovakia lead.

GOAL - RUSSIA 0-1 SLOVAKIA

1626 I'm afraid I've lost pictures of Ireland's U21's but I can tell you it is still scoreless.

1624 Penalty appeal for Russia as Arshavin is beaten to the ball by a Slovakian defender.

Arshavin is brought down at the same time but I think the referee made the right call when playing on.

1620 Slovakia will be quite happy that the score is still 0-0 as they really are second-best so far. Seems like Slovakia would be happy with a point but they do have a bit of quality in the final third on their rare ventures forward.

1616 Better play by Slovakia now, they are forcing Russia to defend quite deep but no clear cut chances in this game as of yet.

1612 U21s of Turkey and Ireland are scoreless after 10 minutes.

1609 Russia go quite close as Shirokov's shot from 25 yards is parried away by Mucha in the Slovakian goal. Good work by Arshavin in the build-up.

1607 No goals in Russia yet, but the game is being played a very frantic pace.

1601 We're underway in both matches.

1552 A reminder the Republic of Ireland's game with Andorra kicks-off at 7:45pm.

England (Switzerland) and Scotland (Liechtenstein) are also in action.

Brian Kerr's Faroe Islands face a trip to Italy as well. It will be an entertaining evening and hopefully there are plenty of goals in the Aviva.

1533 Turkey U21: Karabulut, Kurtulus, Cek, Kesimal, Basdas,
Tekdemir, Uysal, Kaplan, Colak, Kose, Aygunes.

Subs: Ozbir, Eylik, Arslan, Kaldirim, Gurler, Boz, Calik.

Rep of Ireland U21: Henderson, Coleman, Towell, Moloney,
Kiernan, Connelly, Carey, Hourihane, Clifford, Rooney, Brady.

Subs: Redmond, McEleney, Kearns, Sheppard, Madden, Mason.

Referee: Aleksandar Stavrev (FYR Macedonia)

1531 Russia: Akinfeev, Aniukov, Vasili Berezutsky, Ignashevich,
Zhirkov, Semshov, Shirokov, Dzagoev, Zyryanov, Pogrebniak,
Arshavin.

Subs: Gabulov, Alexei Berezutsky, Bilyaletdinov, Kolodin, Bystrov, Pavlyuchenko, Torbinsky.

Slovakia: Mucha, Skrtel, Hubocan, Salata, Zabavnik, Karhan,
Strba, Stoch, Hamsik, Kucka, Holosko.

Subs: Pernis, Pekarik, Pecalka, Weiss, Sapara, Vittek, Jendrisek.

Referee: Frank De Bleeckere (Belgium)

1528 Also at 4pm, the Republic's under-21s face a daunting trip to Turkey. The Irish side are very depleted, team news shortly.

1527 Russia's game with Slovakia will start at 4pm. It is a crucial game in the Republic of Ireland's group. I suppose a draw would be the best result for the Boys in Green?

I'll provide updates from that game from kick-off.

1525 We'd all like a nice relaxing evening, right?
