The GAA Central Council have released new and updated rules on the number of backroom staff allowed on the sidelines during games.

The new rules are a compromise from an earlier proposal which would have seen the number of backroom officials on the sidelines limited to five.

Under the updated rules six to eight officials will be permitted on the sideline at any one time.

Two water carriers from each team will be permitted and managers must stay between the 45 metre lines.

Pitch incursions will not be tolerated as of this season and all media personnel will also be banned from the sidelines during games.

Fines will be strictly imposed on all counts.
