Former world champion Dennis Priestley tonight edged a tense encounter with James Wade to book his place in the semi-finals of the Skybet World Grand Prix.

The 'Mexborough Menace' never really got out of third gear at the Citywest Hotel in Dublin but it was enough to clinch a 4-2 victory against Wade, runner-up to Phil Taylor at the Stan James World Matchplay back in July.

There was no double trouble for Peter Manley as he overcame Andy 'Pie Man' Smith 4-1 in the opening clash of the night.

Manley, the 2003 Las Vegas Desert Classic champion, was prolific at the start of each leg - failing to get away with his first three darts just once in 21 legs.

'One Dart' won six of the first eight legs to take control of the contest, but his form dipped a little in the third set and Smith stepped in to reduce the deficit.

However, Manley regained his composure and eventually closed out the match with a 120 checkout.

Defending champion Phil Taylor produced another ruthless display as he overcame Roland Scholten.

'The Power' completely outplayed Dutchman Scholten - who was clearly struggling with a neck problem - to wrap up a 4-0 success.
