A €2million agreement was revealed at a sponsorship announcement in Dublin by International manager Stephen Staunton and CEO of the FAI John Delaney ahead of the first of the Euro 2008 qualifying games against Germany on September 2nd next.
Eddie Murphy, Chairman and Managing Director of Ford Ireland, commented: 'Ford has been a sponsor of the UEFA Champions League since the inception of the tournament in the early 90s. The agreement with the FAI is an opportunity to extend our support of soccer to the national arena, at the outset of an exciting campaign for the Irish team.'
Speaking at the announcement FAI Chief Executive Officer John Delaney said, 'we are delighted to welcome Ford as a key sponsor to the Association. Ford have been great investors in football and we look forward to a fruitful partnership with them in the future'.
