Six new faces for Westmeath

The Westmeath team for next Sunday's O'Byrne Cup match against Carlow sees six newcomers to Senior Inter-County fare.

Brendan Nannery from St. Joseph's is named at full-back, with Graham Dillon from the Trinity Gaels club in Dublin at Right Half Back.

Both midfielders are newcomers to this level - Brendan Murtagh from county champions, The Downs and Coralstown/Kinnegad's Niall Kilmartin.

Murtagh was an integral part of Westmeath's Christy Ring Cup winning hurling team last summer.

The newcomers in attack are James Nugent who impressed for Intermediate champions, Killucan and Kilbeggan Shamrocks' P.J. Ward.

Ward was an inspirational member of Westmeath's Leinster winning minor team of 2000 and actually lined out for New York in last year's Connacht championship.

Ruled out through injury are regular panellists, David Glennon, Donal O'Donoghue, David O'Shaughnessy, Gary Dolan and Patrick Mulvihill. Meanwhile, Damien Healy is on holidays and Dessie Dolan is suspended.
