Phil Taylor was taken to the brink of defeat in Purfleet last night before fighting to defeat Wayne Mardle and keep his hopes of a 13th world title alive.

'The Power' won 6-5 against Wayne Mardle in their Ladbrokes.com World Championship semi-final but only after losing four consecutive sets to trail 4-3 and then falling 5-4 behind.

However, the 45-year-old from Stoke dug deep and showed why he has dominated the sport for a decade by rediscovering his touch when it mattered to book a clash with fierce rival Peter Manley in the £100,000 showdown at Purfleet's Circus Tavern tomorrow night.
