Raymond van Barneveld is already looking forward to January's Lakeside World Championship at which he can equal Eric Bristow's record of five titles.
The Dutchman ended a year in which he has experienced plenty of highs and lows by capturing the Winmau World Masters trophy for the second time thanks to a 7-3 win over Swedish sausage maker Goran Klemme in the final.
And he immediately turned his attention to the defence of his crown in Frimley Green starting on January 7, with the target being to match the achievement of his hero Bristow who dominated the game in the 1980s.
"I am dreaming of it already," admitted the 38-year-old from The Hague after a performance full of authority in Bridlington.
Van Barneveld has book-ended 2005 with triumphs in the British Darts Organisation's two premier tournaments, but in between he endured troubled times as a split with his long-time manager affected his form.
"I struggled for four months because I was involved in court cases and all that sort of stuff," explained 'Barney'.
"In 2003 I nearly won all the BDO's Grand Slam events, but in the World Masters final I lost to Tony West after having a double 16 to win the match.
"Last year I won the two Grand Slam events that are staged in Holland and this year I have won the two English ones.
"I was very confident throughout this tournament and hopefully I can carry that form on to the Lakeside in the new year."
