Joe Crede homered and made two outstanding run-saving plays as Chicago White Sox beat Houston Astros 5-3 in game one of the World Series.
Astros pitcher Roger Clemens lasted just two innings, conceding three runs and four hits. The 43-year-old, the second oldest pitcher to start a World Series game, threw 54 pitches and left with a left hamstring injury.
White Sox's Cuban pitcher Jose Contreras pitched seven innings and had two strikeouts.
