Patrice Dockery has qualified for the 1,500m final by finishing second in her heat today. Dockery was disqualified from the 800m final yesterday, when she was guilty of leaving her lane and causing a collision. The Irish team appealed the decision but the judgement was upheld.
Ireland's Tom Leahy has increased the National medal total at the Paralympics in Sydney to 2 by winning the silver medal in the Mens' Discus. Tom, from Fermoy is competing in his 5th Paralympic Games and this silver is his 7th medal. He claimed 2nd place with a season's best 16 metres 20 centimetres.
Johnny Cronin and Mags Grant have been drawn against each other in Bocchia Bowling in the quarter-finals even though they will be playing together in the pairs competition later in the week.
Elsewhere, Catherine Walsh, who claimed a medal in the women's pentathlon, finished seventh in the discus, while Longford's Colette O'Reilly came sixth in her heat of the 200m.
