Episode Notes
Our special guest this week is fiddle player Kevin Burke. Born in London to Irish parents Kevin moved to Ireland in the 1970s where he played with Christy Moore and later with the Bothy Band. Towards the end of the Bothy Band era Kevin and Mícheál Ó Domhnaill went on tour to the States, visited Portland and and ended up liking it so much there that they stayed! Over the course of a long career in music Kevin Burke has played with scores of great musicians and in many bands including The Bothy Band, Open House, Patrick Street and the Celtic Fiddle Festival. He recently released a new album called 'Sligo Made' which was made, as the title says, in Sligo with many wonderful Sligo musicians including John Carty and Seamie O'Dowd. Kevin will be touring in Ireland over the coming 6 weeks. He will be doing solo gigs and a tour with Donal Lunny, Paul Brady and Andy Irvine. All the details are on www.kevinburke.com
