In the Poetry Programme on Sunday 4th April, at 7:30 pm on RTÉ Radio 1, Olivia O'Leary's guest is Theo Dorgan.
Theo Dorgan has sailed around the world, presented poetry and arts programmes, and been Director of Poetry Ireland. Among his many awards are the O’Shaughnessy Award for Irish Poetry (USA) 2010 and The Irish Times Poetry Now Award 2015. He is a member of Aosdána and is known as someone who supports and nurtures young poets and cares passionately about the place of poetry in our culture.

In an extended interview, he talks about translating poetry and reads some of his translations from French to English of the work of Maram al-Masri, and to Irish of poems by Federick García Lorca.
He also reads a selection of his own poetry, all published by Dedalus Press, on themes ranging from myth to politics to love, including one that recalls a event commemorating the Easter Rising.
