Episode Notes
Tonight, we bring you a conversation with Niall Quinn, recorded in front of an audience at the Hinterland Festival in Kells, County Meath earlier this year. The subject is the life of Oscar Traynor.
Had things panned out differently, Traynor might have had a long and distinguished career as a professional goalkeeper in the 1910s. But when you are driven to take part in the Easter Rising and assume command of the Dublin Brigade of the IRA during the War of Independence, football becomes secondary.
In his Masters thesis for Dublin City University, Niall Quinn has traced Traynor's long and varied career in football, revolution and politics.
