The National Heritage Keepers Programme, run by Burrenbeo Trust, is now open for applications for its fifth round. The free programme invites community groups and senior primary school classes to discover, celebrate, and protect the heritage on their doorstep.
To date, over 200 groups and schools have participated, completing funded projects such as heritage trails, oral history recordings, wildlife ponds, podcasts, booklets, and community 'Place Celebration' days. The initiative provides online workshops, funding, and fieldtrip opportunities—empowering participants to take real, tangible action in their communities.
One participant described it as: "More than just talking about helping—it’s actually doing something."
Applications close September 30th. An online information session takes place on Tuesday, September 16th at 7:30pm.
