This week, Miriam O'Callaghan interviews political colleagues Senator David Norris and former Senator Joe O'Toole.

They recall their childhoods - Joe in Dingle, David in Dublin after the family moved home from the Belgian Congo. They reflect on how their childhoods have shaped the men they are.

They met each other in 1987 when both were elected to the Senate and shared an office for a while. Joe recalls the hate mail that David got as a gay man. They recall the formation of the independents group. They both talk about David's experience as a candidate in the recent Presidential election.

Both men hope that the Senate won't be abolished and they talk about their personal faith.
