This week, Miriam O'Callaghan interviews longtime friends, Paul Howard and Roisin Ingle.
In a wide ranging interview, they talk about their first meeting when both were working for The Sunday Tribune newspaper. They shared a sense of humour and recalled the fun they had in the office which was also a great learning environment.
Paul tells Miriam about his childhood in England and the experience of being Irish in Britain but also feeling English when the family returned to Ireland. Roisin's parents met in England and her English born mother came to live with her father in his native Dublin. These experiences have impacted on their sense of Irishness.
Paul and Roisin are great friends, but have never gone out together. Roisin explained that given their shared sense of mischief, the result of any relationship would be "carnage." Roisin's partner is Johnny and they have twin daughters while Paul is married to Mary.
Paul always wanted to be a sports journalist and never expected the success he has had as a novellist. He has just published Triggs - the autobiography of Roy Keane's dog and The Shelbourne Ultimatum is the next book in the Ross O'Carroll Kelly series and Paul is penning Anglo: The Musical.
Success hasn't changed their friendship, but Roisin points out that Paul now goes on amazing "Hollywood" holidays while Paul describes Roisin's holidays as "Father Ted".
Paul is a Bruce Springstein fan and sings some of The River, with Roisin on backing vocals, dedicated to his wife Mary.
