Caranua was set up to pay for services for survivors of residential abuse. Its CEO Mary Higgins came on the programme to elaborate on her statement that they are dealing with fraudulent claims at the agency: "We have passed on a number of cases to the gardaí for investigation". 

Mary also clarified that a €15,000 limit has been put on the value of services which abuse victims can obtain through Caranua.
