Cast your minds back to 1985, and then take yourself to July 13th. On that date, Phil Collins managed to play at both Live Aid concerts, London's Wembley Arena and Philadelphia's JFK Stadium.

Remember the Concorde? It hasn't been gone that long, only since 2003 – but it feels an awful lot longer. The Concorde made it possible for Phil Collins to become the only artist to perform at both concerts, and he told the Ray D'Arcy Show today that he wasn't supposed to be the only one doing it. He only wanted to play with his mates!

'You can actually do both shows, if you get the Concorde. And I said ok, yeah, it didn't seem like a big deal to me. And I didn't think I was going to be only person doing that because Duran Duran were playing in London… But it turned out that they cancelled and I ended up being the guy. It was a logistical day. You didn't sit back and smell the roses a bit until the papers the next day and you realise what you've performed in'.

Ray and Phil Collins spoke of how something like it has not been done since, and probably never will be. Unless, of course, they bring the Concorde back. Which they won't.

Phil Collins comes to the Aviva Stadium on June 25th as part of his Not Dead Yet tour. He spoke to Ray D'Arcy about why the tour is so called, and you can hear the reasons by clicking here.
