Why didn't senior teachers take a greater decrease in their pay when they negotiated the  Lansdowne Road Agreement in order to ensure there was pay parity with new teachers?

And why don't they take a decrease now?

In a proposal that likely to go down like a lead balloon among the three teachers unions meeting this week, Fine Gael Councillor Paddy Smyth questioned the collegiality of senior teachers with their younger counterparts on The Late Debate last night.

Also joining Cormac O'hEadhra on the programme were Labour Councillor Martina Genockey, Personal Finance Journalist Jill Kerby, Vincent Boland of The Financial Times and Fr. Sean Healy, Director of Social Justice Ireland.
