Enda Kenny overtakes John A. Costello today as the longest-serving Fine Gael Taoiseach, with 2,234 days in office.
But his record-making moment has prompted new calls for him to step down. On The Late Debate last night Fine Gael's Noel Rock explained why he thinks Kenny should go now but, as he stressed, he's not a stalking horse nor is it personal ambition that's prompting his calls.
Gerry O'Regan didn't seem too convinced. He wondered if Rock was being encouraged by those in Leo Varadkar's camp who worry that the moment for his leadership bid might pass. As the old saying goes, timing is everything.
Also joining Cormac were Labour Party Senator Aodhán O'Ríordáin, Fianna Fáil Councillor Mary Hanafin and Noeline Blackwell, CEO Dublin Rape Crisis Centre.
