In her column for Drivetime this week, Olivia O'Leary reflects on the decision to locate the new National Maternity Hospital on the St. Vincent's Hospital site and giving ownership of the €300m taxpayer funded hospital to the Sisters of Charity.
"It seems quite extraordinary," she says, "that the government would, with their eyes wide open, agree to finance a national maternity hospital which might be prevented from carrying out operations that are already legal or operations like abortion which could relatively soon become legal on a more widespread basis."
