Go on ya good thing : Dustin the Turkey takes on Diabetes

Diabetes and specifically ‘Type 2’ Diabetes is on the increase in Ireland.

It’s a serious health issue and Marty Morrissey was joined by a national icon on Countrywide to get the message across, and raise awareness.

Dustin the Turkey joined Marty to ‘supervise’ a simple finger prick test to check blood sugar.

Sinead Powell from Diabetes Ireland administered the test and gave Marty his all clear… 5.6 on the index – which is well within the safe range.

“The growing numbers being diagnosed with Prediabetes and Type 2 Diabetes is concerning.”

“Screening will help spread the message – and will help people across the country better understand the risk factors associated with Type 2 diabetes, how to identify those risk factors in their own lifestyle and correct the modifiable ones, and manage their own health."

Dustin, perhaps unsurprisingly, refused the offer of a test – so feathers remained unruffled for the time-being.
