12-year-old busker Allie Sherlock performed for a slightly bigger audience than usual yesterday, charming the audience of The Ellen DeGeneres Show in Los Angeles. She caught Ellen’s eye in one of her online videos featuring her busking on the streets of Dublin. Allie and her Dad Mark joined Ray on the line from Cork on The Ray D’Arcy Show to give him the rundown on their time in LA.

Allie was previously on The Ray D’Arcy Show last June chatting to Ray. A lot has changed since then. Producer Ryan Tedder (of OneRepublic fame) asked Allie to make the trip over to LA so they could collaborate. While they were there, The Ellen DeGeneres Show beckoned. So, what was it like being on the show?

“She [Ellen] was just so nice and friendly and like, I was really, really nervous when I was on there but during the break, she was just saying to me just to calm down and she was just so nice about it. So, it just made everything so much easier.”

Allie told Ray that she came away with more than just the experience of being on the show. Ellen had a gift for her that might come in handy for her busking.

“She gave me a guitar case with lights, light-up words saying “tips”.”

What does the future hold for Allie? Marks says that they’ve had a lot of interest in signing Allie but they think they’ll stick with Ryan Tedder for now.

“A lot of different labels and record companies have contacted us…lots are trying to sign her at the moment but I’m kind of going with Ryan on a gut feeling, really. Ryan contacted me two weeks ago and just from the moment go, he felt good to me.”

As for the more immediate future, Ray made Allie and her Dad an offer they couldn’t refuse: will they come on Ray’s TV show this Saturday? An easy answer. They’ll see Ray Saturday night.
