Margaret joined Joe Duffy on Liveline to tell him how she’s feeling ahead of her upcoming driving test: her fifth in all. While the last one was postponed due to the snowy weather, she failed the other 4 attempts. And there’s a good reason, she told Joe. Nerves.
“I just get really, severely nervous. It’s just unbelievable…when the tester gets into the car, he just makes me so nervous.”
Is there a chance it could be a combination of nerves and skills? Margaret doesn’t think so. She told Joe that she has been driving for 10 years and her driving instructor is refusing to give her more lessons, saying she’s ready.
“I can drive no problem. My driving instructor won't take any more lessons off me or anything. Like, I can drive. But I just physically break down…I do everything wrong.”
Paul from Churchtown School of Motoring came on the line to offer Margaret some advice, saying that because she has sat the test 5 times, she is entitled to an RSA Supervisor being present at her next test. Joe wasn’t sure this was the best fix.
“Ah, you’ll give her a nervous breakdown, Paul. A Supervisor!”
