Someone call the Gords! They bored him many times (but always let him back in eventually), but now Mary and Pat have gone and put Kiely's up for sale. There are no words, goys, roysh?

Ahem.

Yes, it's true that the legendary Kiely's pub in Donnybrook, Dublin 4 has been put up for sale. Owner Mary Crimin joined Ryan Tubridy on the line to explain why she had to stop taking Ross O'Carroll-Kelly's money.

"It's been very emotional the last 24 hours. We thought we understood what Kiely's meant to people, but we had no idea."

Mary told Ryan that it was a very difficult decision to put the pub up for sale. Mary and her husband Pat have four adult children who are very supportive and loyal, and she describes Kiely's as the fifth:

"The big bold child, who took all our attention. 24-7, hands-on."

The Crimins love people, and, according to Mary, that's vital if you're in the pub business. And Kiely's is a family business, with, Mary says, wonderful staff and people who come from all over the world to visit.

"You have to take so many things into account when you make a momentous decision like this."

Kiely's is more than just a rugby pub (but don't say that to Ross) – Mary reckons it's a place for all sports and even no sports, with plenty of long-time Donnybrook residents frequenting the premises for the food and the craic. It has, like Ross himself, become a ledge in its own lifetime.
