14-year-old Syrian refugee Alma Harrak's life was turned upside down when she fled war-torn Damascus and arrived in Ireland two years ago. Living in accommodation in Mosney in Co Meath, she and her family had to learn English and create a brand new life for themselves.
However, it was at Mosney that Alma discovered a hidden talent, as she told Ryan Tubridy.
"My friend started, she taught me how to play a little piece on piano so then I decided to audition for a talent show and then I actually got through and I had to learn other pieces but there was no-one to teach me so I just looked it up on YouTube."
After playing piano for a grand total of about 9 months, Alma is such a talent that she has been invited to join the RTÉ Concert Orchestra on stage for Culture Night at Collin's Barracks.
Ryan Tubridy was curious to know what a self-taught musical prodigy was doing to prep on the day of the biggest gig of her life.
"I'm actually in school right now!.. I have a maths test and I don't want to miss it!"
