Tributes are being paid around the world for Stan Lee, creator of some of the best-known superheroes, who died yesterday at the age of 95.

As co-creator of Marvel comics, he was behind the likes of the Fantastic Four, Spiderman, the Incredible Hulk, Ironman and many more.

Current Spiderman artist for Marvel and Cork native Will Sliney spoke with Morning Ireland and explained just why Stan Lee was so important.

"He was iconic… When you list those characters that he created… they’ve touched so many people, whether it was from watching the movies or reading the comic books."

Will explained that making superheroes relatable was the big breakthrough for Stan Lee.  About the creation of Spiderman he says;

"Instead of reading stories about giant off-world alien battles, you were reading stories about how he wasn't able to balance his schoolwork or pick up a loaf of bread.
