Chess has never been more popular in Ireland, but the best players in the game here, and worldwide, are men, though there is no biological factor that makes men better at the game than women. Eimer McAuley has met with the top female players in the country, including medical doctor Alice O'Gorman, Trisha Kanyamarala, an 18-year-old from Portlaoise, and Diana Mats, a refugee from Kyiv, to find out more about the obstacles women are facing at the elite level of the sport.
