Workers at Peerless Rugs continue occupation
Thirty workers are into the sixth day of their occupation of a factory in Athy, County Kildare. Until 6 July, the factory, with a staff of 65, manufactured Peerless Rugs. The Labour Court has awarded the workers three weeks pay for each year of service, plus statutory entitlements, but the workers say that they are not prepared to leave the plant unattended to ensure that a receiver cannot get in.
