The Lament for Art O’Leary is one of our most famous love poems, composed in the aftermath of Art’s fatal shooting on 4th May 1773, 250 years ago tomorrow. The Lament has been translated from the Irish by many poets. Now John FitzGerald has written a new version, published by Gallery Press, for this anniversary.
