After starting his working career digging ditches for the Royal Post in Britain, Peter Cochrane went back to college to study Electrical Engineering, eventually recommending that BT move from using copper cables to fibre-optics. While there he found himself climbing the corporate ladder rapidly to become BT's Chief Tech Officer & Head of Research.
