Cathal gets up to the 1960’s to tell the story of Major Minor Records and the man behind, the Belfast born impresario Phil Solomon. An influential figure in the pop music business of the 1950’s and 1960’s, Solomon guided the fortunes of many top selling Irish acts of that era including Ruby Murray, The Bachelors, and Van Morrison. He also revived the fortunes of the offshore pirate station Radio Caroline and founded his own recording company, Major Minor Records. The label is best known for bringing the music of The Dubliners to the mainstream and launching the career of the Northern Ireland singer/songwriter David McWilliams. (Contributors include Declan Cluskey, Joanna Braniff and Noel McLaughlin.)
