A programme on the Year of Craft, marking 40 years of the Irish Craft Council. We visit the Modern Languages exhibition at the National Craft Gallery in Kilkenny, in which five fine artists interpret aspects of Irish vernacular crafts, with curator
Katy West.
Also in Kilkenny, we visit Rudolf Heltzel's gold and silversmithing workshop, meeting Rudolf, his son Christopher, and colleagues Maeve Lynch and Dave Wilson.
In studio, NCAD lecturer Nicola Gordon Bowe, designer Gearoid Muldowney of the Superfolk studio, and curator of the National Craft Gallery, Anne Mulrooney discuss the intersection of craft, art and design, and the opportunities offered by the Year of Craft.
Modern Languages runs at the National Craft Gallery until 12 January 2012.
