It's a good news day for RTÉ lyric fm, as we retain our loyal listeners, with weekday gains and a particular welcome to our new weekend listeners. Our audience reach is at 4%(171k) up from 154k, while our share is at 2.7% vs 2.4% in the first quarter of 2024.

On weekdays, Marty in the Morning has 71,000 listeners and The Full Score with Liz Nolan sees 50,000 people tuning in for their lunchtime listen. Niall Carroll has 41,000 listeners and Lorcan Murray Classic Drive gains an extra 3,000, bringing him up to 59,000 listeners. Both Mystery Train with John Kelly and RTÉ lyric Live with Paul Herriott welcome 11,000 new listeners on weeknights.

Weekend Classics with Claudia Boyle has proven to be a big hit with the listenership increasing by 21,000 since the last year; while Aedín Gormley's Movies and Musicals sees 7,000 new listeners.

Just over a year on-air with RTÉ lyric fm, Simon Delaney gains 18,000 listeners on Sunday afternoon with Simon Delaney. George Hamilton scores an extra 7,000 listeners on his Saturday morning programme and a bonus 8,000 on Sundays. Vlad Smishkewych retains 39,000 Sunday morning listeners on Vox Nostra, while our radio documentary series The Lyric Feature gains 6,000 news listeners.

Claudia Boyle sees a significant increase in listenership

Head of RTÉ lyric fm, Sinéad Wylde states: "Delighted that RTÉ lyric fm continues to connect and grow new audiences from early in the morning with Marty Whelan's Marty in the Morning seeing an extra 17,000 new listeners (year on year) right through to evenings and The Mystery Train with John Kelly/ RTÉ lyric Live with Paul Herriott gaining 11,000 new listeners.

The weekends too have seen great growth with Aedín Gormley's Movies and Musicals gaining 7,000 new listeners (year on year) and The Hamilton Scores attracting 7,000 new listeners on Saturday and 8,000 on Sunday since last year. New shows and new voices on the station are resonating strongly with audiences: Weekend Classics with Claudia Boyle has attracted 21,000 new listeners on Saturday and 10,000 on Sundays (YoY), and Sunday Afternoon with Simon Delaney has 18,000 new listeners. Increasingly, RTÉ lyric fm where life sounds better has a place in listeners lives."
