All this week on Classic Drive, Lorcan will feature music from Andrew Davis and the BBC Philharmonic's 'King of Kings.'
You never forget your first love, and for the late conductor Andrew Davis, that was Bach. Released posthumously, this release from the BBC Philharmonic showcases Davis' orchestral transcriptions of Bach classics, including the beloved Toccata and Fugue in D minor. The transcriptions complement Bach's writing and illustrate the conductor's deep understanding of orchestra textures. After Davis was unable to finish the project after passing away in 2024, Martyn Brabbins takes up the baton in his friend and colleague's honor. A fitting tribute, both to Davis and to the composer he loved.
