Against the backdrop of a dramatic neolithic landscape Ambient Orbit brings you a special winter solstice broadcast live from Listoghill, the central monument at Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery in Co. Sligo, home to Ireland's oldest megalithic tombs on December 21st, the longest night of the year.
Join us from the heart of neolithic north-west Ireland where the remains of over 35 passage tombs constructed over 6,000 years ago are found, for a tranquil mix of music, on site ambience and live musical performances from Gweynn, Brendan Jenkinson and Risteárd Ó hAodha. Tune in for musical folklore and solstice celebrations, wherever you are, on the longest night of the year between 7 and 9pm.

Gweynn is an Irish multidisciplinary artist whose music practice creates a space and process for exploring the movements of conscious and unconscious forms of memory, imbued with layered connection to place. Combining shifting vocal landscapes, stream of consciousness writing, and the ambience of distortion, she intuitively seeks out submerged and fragmentary melodies and atmospheres through moments of recording and performance. Gweynn's music practice has developed slowly through diy, site specific and improvisational contexts, alongside long time collaboration with peers on Irish music label Wherethetimegoes. She has performed across Ireland and internationally, showcasing solo and collaborative live performances at venues such as Douglas Hyde Gallery, The National Concert Hall, IMMA, Project Arts Centre, Venue MOT, Cafe Oto and more.
Risteárd Ó hAodha is a musician and composer from Mayo but now based in Conamara. He plays piano and cello and has collaborated with artists such as Róis, Princ€ss, Olan Monk and Gemma Dunleavy. Risteárd also makes music for theatre and contemporary dance. His style is rooted in experimentation and improvisation, melding traditional and classical styles.
Outside of his solo practice, Risteárd co-runs the Gaeltacht based artists' collective Gliogar, putting on contemporary arts events nationwide, with fellow artists Peader-Tom Mercier and Aindriú de Buitléir.
Brendan Jenkinson is a producer and musician working in Dublin City. He started experimenting with sound recording techniques at a young age, using a technique he pioneered called Multi-Mini-Disc Tracking. With this he began to write and record his own music. This soon developed into a habit of recording his friend's bands, which in time became his job. Today he performs live and in studio and works as a composer for film.
